Crafted Cottage Renovation
After a major storm that damaged numerous homes on Gull Lake, our client saw a Nor-Son Custom Builders truck driving through the neighborhood. After flagging our project manager down to ask for help, together they reviewed the damage from a fallen tree on a portion of the home. Thankfully no one was hurt. But the clients used this as an opportunity to expand and transform their tiny, traditional cabin.
The entire roof was removed and interior gutted to transform the cabin into a 2-story cottage-style home. The lake home was shared with the couple’s children and extended family, so sleeping space was a driving factor of the design as well as handicapped accessibility. The main floor bath is fully handicapped-accessible with an added exterior ramp. Budget conscious materials was used so as not to sacrifice style and functionality.
