Project Overview

Summer storm damage to a Brainerd Lakes Area lake home becomes an opportunity…our client’s story. After a major storm that damaged numerous homes on and around Gull Lake, our client saw a Nor-Son Custom Builders truck driving through their neighborhood. Flagging down the project manager driving to ask for help, together they reviewed the damage to the lake cottage from a fallen tree on a portion of the home. Thankfully no one was hurt. But the clients used this as an opportunity for the renovation and expansion of their small cabin.

The entire roof was removed and the interior gutted to transform the cabin into a 2-story lake cottage. A lake home used by their children and extended family, the clients required additional sleeping space and handicapped accessibility. The cottage was designed for main-floor living and fully handicapped accessible with an exterior ramp. Budget conscious materials, such as laminate vinyl plank wood flooring, were used to maintain value in the home without sacrificing style and functionality.
